ORLANDO — Orlando business owners are suing a roofing contractor and subcontractor, alleging negligence and vicarious liability.

Change Your Community Inc., ABM Automotive Inc., City of Life Ministries Inc. and TS4Life Inc. filed a complaint Oct. 30 in Orange Circuit Court against Century Roofing Specialists LLC and St. John's Roofing Services LLC, alleging negligence in perforning their work.

According to the complaint, on June 27, 2016, the plaintiffs, who own businesses at 3330 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando, sustained property and inventory damages that required extensive repairs and mitigation efforts when the defendants left the roof open, allowing a massive amount of rainwater to enter the premises. The suit says the plaintiffs were caused to delay operations and/or shut down, had business interrupted, and suffered from lost revenue/profits.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants breached their duties by improperly and inadequately performing their work, and failed to perform their duties with the standards for skill, training, expertise and experience.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, actual, compensatory, consequential and incidental damages of more than $15,000, plus prejudgment interest, taxable costs and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Derek L. Metts of Metts Legal PA in Winter Park.
