Slip02

ORLANDO — An Orange County man is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence at the defendant's store in Apopka led to him suffering injuries.

Matthew Coleman filed a complaint Oct. 30 in Orange Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, alleging negligence in failing to use due care to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on July 17, 2016, Coleman was at the Wal-Mart store on South Blossom Trail in Apopka. The suit says he slipped on an unknown liquid substance on the floor.

The lawsuit states Coleman fell and sustained injuries in and about his body and extremities, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, significant scarring, mental anguish, loss of earnings and aggravation of a previously a existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores East failed to maintain and inspect the Apopka premises for dangerous substances on the floor, failed to post warning or caution barriers, and failed to correct the dangerous condition.

Coleman seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, and all other relief deemed proper by the court. He is represented by attorney W. Clay Mitchell Jr. of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
