ORLANDO — An Orlando man is suing a regional transportation agency, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Marcus Nieves filed a complaint Oct. 30 in Orange Circuit Court against Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, doing business as Lynx, alleging the agency failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2013, Nieves tried to board a Lynx bus when the driver accelerated the vehicle, causing the plaintiff to fall on his right knee. Nieves says he suffered bodily injury, permanent aggravation of an existing condition, disfigurement, disability, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to warn him of the dangerous condition, and failed to provide training to its employees regarding the proper operation of its transportation vehicles.

Nieves seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of costs, attorney fees and all further relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Trenton M. Swan of The Pendas Law Firm in Orlando.
