ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Cecilio Alicea filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging the licensed insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealings.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 28, Alicea's insured property at 12637 Illinois Woods Lane, Orlando suffered loss caused by water discharge in the kitchen. The suit says although the loss was covered under the terms of the insurance policy provided by Security Frist, Alicea has not receive the full benefits under the policy.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed to pay the correct amount of the benefits under the policy and refused to honor its contractual obligations for the loss and claim.

Alicea seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 costs, prejudgment interest and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys Jonathan Drake and Manuel L. Iravedra of Strems Law Firm in Coral Gables.
