ORLANDO — A New Mexico woman is suing the Walt Disney World theme park, alleging negligence.
Debbie Stanovcak of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Orange County Circuit Court against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc., alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.
According to the complaint, on March 14, Stanovcak was a lawful customer of the theme park known as Magic Kingdom. The suit says she tripped and fell on a dark curb during a nighttime show. As a result, Stanovcak says, she suffered bodily injuries and pain, and incurred medical and treatment expenses.
The suit says Walt Disney Parks and Resorts failed to provide adequate lighting during the nighttime show, failed to adequately conduct inspections to ensure that a dangerous, hazardous and unsafe conditions did not exist and failed to warn customers of the dangerous condition that existed.
Stanovcak seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $15,000 and in excess of the jurisdictional limits, all taxable costs and such other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorneys Sara Schafer and Jason Turchin of Law Office of Jason Turchin in Weston.
