CLEARWATER — A Pasco County woman is suing a Tarpon Springs hospital facility, alleging negligence caused her injuries.

Kristine Jensen-Stopera filed a complaint Oct. 17 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Florida Hospital North Pinellas, alleging the facility failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on May 2, 2015, Jensen-Stopera was on defendant's property to visit a relative. The suit says she fell due to the unsafe or dangerous condition of the elevator, which suddenly closed on the plaintiff as she was using a walker, hitting her in the knee.

As a result of defendant's negligence, the suit says Jense-Stopera was injured, incurred medical expenses, and sustained pain and suffering both physical and mental in nature.

The plaintiff alleges Florida Hospital North Pinellas failed to warn her of the danger of the malfunctioning elevator, failed to inspect and maintain the elevator or to determine whether a dangerous condition existed.

Jense-Stopera seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000 and court costs. She is represented by William B. Bowles Jr. of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in St. Petersburg.
