Pedestrian blames Orlando, Orange County for fall on sidewalk

ORLANDO — An Orlando man is suing the city and Orange County, alleging negligence in failing to repair a sidewalk, leading to injuries.

Albert Chalonec filed a complaint Oct. 9 in Orange County Circuit Court against the city of Orlando and Orange County, alleging the defendants failed to maintain a public property.

According to the complaint, Chalonec alleges that, in Oct. 10, 2013, he was walking on a sidewalk on Sun Ville Boulevard, maintained and operated by the defendants. The suit says Chaolnec tripped and fell on uneven pavement, leading to physical injuries, mental anguish and medical expenses.

Chalonec alleges the defendants failed to warn the public of the dangerous condition and failed to provide proper training to its employees regarding the proper maintenance and inspections of city and county sidewalks.

Chalonec seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 exclusive of costs, attorney fees and all further relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by attorney Diego M. Madrigal III of The Pendas Law Firm in Orlando.
