CLEARWATER — A Tampa woman is suing a St. Petersburg restaurant, alleged negligence led to her becoming ill.

Shelby Criss filed a complaint Sept. 27 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Tampa Hub Corporation doing business as Crab Shack Restaurant, alleging the defendant failed to use ordinary care to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on April 30, 2015, Criss was a patron at Crab Shack, 1140 Gandy Blvd. St. Petersburg, when she subsequently became ill after visiting and consuming the defendant's food. As a result of defendant's negligence, Criss says she sustained injuries, aggravated any pre-existing condition and lost earnings.

The plaintiff alleges Crab Shack Restaurant failed to maintain, inspect, and otherwise keep in good condition its equipment, ingredients or supplies, and failed to safely prepare, handle, store and/or serve its food.

Criss seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Christopher N. Ligori of Christopher N. Ligori & Associates in Tampa.
