FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County man is suing a former business partner, alleging breach of contract, civil theft, fraud and unjust enrichment.

Michael Dennis filed a complaint Oct. 6 in Broward County Circuit Court against Vania R. Dos Santos, alleging she obtained profit through unfair or deceptive trade or commerce.

According to the complaint, in February 2015, Dos Santos told Dennis about a lucrative investment opportunity involving the domestic purchase and international resale of Apple IPhones. The suit says Dennis has suffered substantial monetary damages as a result of Dos Santos' fraudulent scheme of enticing him to invest funds in the defendant's reselling business, under the guise and promise of a return of his initial investments plus significant profit.

However, the lawsuit states, Dos Santos failed to timely remit all of Dennis' investment money and profit as promised. The plaintiff alleges Dos Santos failed to remit Dennis' initial investments plus profits, and received and benefited from the theft of plaintiff's funds,.

Dennis seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest and all further relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Marc E. Rosenthal of Rosenberg Cummings & Edwards PLLC in Fort Lauderdale.
