ORLANDO — A North Carolina man is suing Orlando hotel owners, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Richard Stevens of Union County, North Carolina, filed a complaint Sept. 28 in Orange Circuit Court against Rosen Hotels & Resorts Inc. and Rosen Centre Inc., alleging failure to use ordinary care to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 5, 2015, Stevens was a business invitee and lawfully upon the premises of the Rosen Hotels at 9840 International Drive, Orlando. The suit says Stevens tripped and fell on a tray of food that had been left on the hallway floor and was obscured from vision.

As a result, Stevens says he suffered loss of an important bodily function, exacerbation of an existing disease, disability, physical impairment, mental anguish and lost wages.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to adequately inspect, maintain and correct the property for dangerous conditions, failed to place warning signs and/or other devices and failed to have adequate staff on duty.

Stevens seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, compensatory damages, court costs and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Cassidy Perdue and Melvin Wright of Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter LLC in Orlando.
