CLEARWATER — A couple is suing a Pinellas County motorist, alleging loss of consortium and negligence.
Jason Powell and Susan Powell filed a complaint Sept. 25 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Kurt Schiefer alleging the defendant failed to exercise the standard care and skill required in operating a motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, on April 12, 2015, Jason Powell's car was crashed into by a Ford Escort driven by Schiefer. The suit says Powell suffered bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, incurred expenses for hospitalization, medical care and treatment.
The lawsuit states Powell's wife, Susan Powell, has been deprived of the services, companionship and consortium of her husband. The plaintiffs allege Schiefer operated and maintained his vehicle in a negligent manner when he collided into the vehicle being operated by Jason Powell.
The Powells seek trial by jury, monetary damages of more than $15,000, costs, post-judgment interest and all further relief thes court deems just and proper. They are represented by attorney John J. Thurber of Thurber Law Firm, PA in Tampa.
