FORT LAUDERDALE — A West Palm Beach woman is suing Baskin Robbins, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Brendetta Yurita Bogues filed a complaint Sept. 25 in Broward Circuit County Court against Dunkin Donuts, doing business as Baskin Robbins, alleging the commercial property failed to provide a safe environment for its business invitees.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Nov. 6, 2016, she was on the defendant's property at 6299 W. Sunrise Blvd., Plantation, to attend a ministry meeting. The suit says she attempted to sit in a defective conference room chair that rolled out from under her and caused her to fall and sustain injuries.
The suit says Bogues suffered disability, loss of earnings and aggravation of a previously existing condition.
The plaintiff alleges Baskin Robbins created a dangerous condition by allowing the use of old and nonslip-resistant wheeled chairs, and failed to warn Bogues of the dangerous condition of its furniture.
Bogues seeks trial by jury and damages of more than $15,000. She is represented by attorney Domenic J. Celeste of Celeste Law Firm in West Palm Beach.
