CLEARWATER — A customer is suing Walmart, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Fatima Ayaz filed a complaint Sept. 1 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging failure to provide a safe environment for its business invitees.
According to the complaint, on June 21, 2015, Ayaz was at defendant's wholesale club store known as Sam's Club on 34th Street North in St. Petersburg. The suit says she slipped and fell, leading to serious bodily injuries, disability, mental anguish, lost earnings and medical expenses,
The lawsuit states Ayaz fell due to a transient liquid that had accumulated and had existed for a sufficient amount of time.
The plaintiff alleges Walmart failed to maintain its floors free from transient liquids, and failed to warn invitees of the dangerous condition of its floors.
Ayaz seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000 and court costs. She is represented by attorney Joel P. Yanchuck of Yanchuck, Berman, Wadley, Thomas & Berman PA in St. Petersburg.
