FORT LAUDERDALE – A Lauderhill resident has filed suit against his insurer over its denial of his claim for property damages.

Rodney Mingo filed a complaint on May 24 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against People's Trust Insurance Co. alleging that the insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 8, 2016, the property was damaged by an accidental discharge of water from a plumbing system. The plaintiff holds People's Trust Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached insurance policy contract by denying coverage for the claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, plus statutory interest, court costs and attorney's fees. He is represented by Robert A. Reynolds of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
