ORLANDO – Two Orlando property owners claim that their insurer failed to properly adjust the loss associated with damages to the property.
Luis Valentin and Norma Valentin filed a complaint on May 24 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 9, 2017, their Orlando property was covered under a homeowner's insurance policy and sustained a covered loss due to water damage. The suit states the defendant paid some insurance proceeds to the plaintiffs, but they allege the damages were greater than what was acknowledged by the defendant.
The plaintiffs hold St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to acknowledge that payment would be forthcoming and failed to make any payment of insurance proceeds.
The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant for damages, plus interest, court costs and attorneys’ fees and other relief the court finds just. They are represented by Victor M. Llerandi Jr. and Alberto M. Regueyra of Regueyra & Llerandi PL in South Miami.
