ORLANDO – An Orange County woman alleges that her former employer subjected her to a hostile work environment because of her medical condition.

Carolyn A. McKeown filed a complaint on May 12 in the Orange County Circuit Court against Pearson Education Inc. alleging disability and age discrimination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was hired by the defendant in July 2016 and asked for an accommodation of more bathroom breaks because of a medical condition. She alleges that after making the request, she was treated differently by her trainer and she was refused access, assistance or information regularly given to employees to complete her training. The suit states she was terminated on Aug. 4, 2016.

The plaintiff holds Pearson Education Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly created a hostile work environment for plaintiff because of her perceived disability.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for compensatory damage, punitive damages, interest, court costs, attorneys' fees and further relief the court deems proper. She is representing herself.
