JACKSONVILLE – A Jacksonville man alleges that he was injured by a barrier at a naval station.

Thomas Ceaser filed a complaint on April 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against United States of America alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 2, 2015, he was driving onto the base at Naval Station Mayport for work and that the barrier at the guard station was negligently activated and struck his vehicle, causing him injuries.

The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to permit safe passage, and failed to properly train staff to operate the barrier guard with caution to avoid accidents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, interest and costs. He is represented by Frank Fratello Jr. of Farah & Farah PA in Jacksonville.
