ORLANDO — An Ocoee couple is suing American Integrity Insurance Company of Florida, alleging breach of contract.

Timothy and Shari Baker filed a complaint on April 24 in the Orange County Circuit Court alleging that the insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that, in July 2016, they suffered a covered loss on their insured property from extensive roof damage. However, after conducting an inspection, the defendant wrongfully denied and/or underpaid plaintiffs’ insurance claim.

The plaintiffs hold American Integrity Insurance responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fulfill its obligations under the terms of the insurance policy by refusing to fully pay the claim benefits of plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages greater than $15,000, compensatory damages, interest, costs and attorneys' fees. They are represented by Derek L. Metts of Metts Legal PA in Winter Park.
