MIAMI – A former valet parking attendant alleges his employers failed to pay him a minimum wage.
Arley Batista Velazquez filed a complaint on April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Paradise Parking Systems LLC, Double Park LLC, Daniel Radrizzani, et al. alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 22, 2010, plaintiff was hired by the defendants as a valet parking attendant with an hourly wage of $5.50 per hour, which is below the applicable state and federal minimum wage. The plaintiff also claims he worked in excess of 40 hours per week but failed to receive overtime wages at the rate of time-and-one-half for all hours worked in excess of 40. The suit states his employment ended on Feb. 7.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, costs, post-judgment interest and further relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Peter Bober and Samara Bober of Bober and Bober PA in Hollywood.
