Orlando property owner files suit against insurer alleging failure to provide adequate coverage

Contract 07

ORLANDO – An Orlando property owner alleges his insurer failed to adequately provide coverage after damage from Hurricane Matthew.

Pedro O. Bravo Migoyo filed a complaint on March 20 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against St. Johns Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 7, 2016, he sustained a covered loss of property as a result of Hurricane Matthew while his insurance policy with the defendant was in full force and effect. However, plaintiff alleges the property sustained covered damages greater than the damages acknowledged by the defendant. The plaintiff holds St. Johns Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to acknowledge that additional payment would be forthcoming, and failed to adequately provide coverage under the terms of the policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the insurance company for damages, plus interest, court costs and reasonable attorney’s fees. He is represented by Juan E. Mourin of The Law Offices of Grey & Mourin PA in Miami.
