Woman alleges Florida Neurological Center failed to pay overtime

Wrongful term 01

OCALA – A woman alleges she was terminated in retaliation for her complaints about alleged labor code violations.

Kelly  Hegstrom filed a complaint on April 3 in the U.S. District Court for  the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against Florida  Neurological Center LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, retaliation and breach of contract.

According to the  complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was not compensated for her overtime work and was only compensated for only four days of work  instead of the five days she worked in a week.

Additionally,  plaintiff alleges she was further damaged from defendant's refusal to pay her for case studies done at the agreed-upon rate and from  retaliatory termination for having complained about FLSA violations.

The  plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against  defendant, recovery of lost wages, benefits and incentives, punitive and  compensatory damages, plus interest, and further relief as the court  may deem just. She is represented by Matthew Birk of The Law Office of Matthew Birk in Gainesville.
