Woman files suit seeking reinstatement to Aetna Life disability plan

Insurance 01

FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman alleges her insurer unlawfully denied her disability benefits.

Margaret J. Johnson filed a complaint on March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Aetna Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2012 and 2016, she became disabled and was initially being paid for disability benefits until her claim was terminated. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny further payment of plaintiff's disability benefits despite her still being disabled according to the policy.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to the plaintiff, reinstatement, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Alexander A. Palamara and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer, Chartered in Hollywood.
