FORT LAUDERDALE – Former employees of a Broward County supermarket claim they were not compensated at the proper rate for overtime work.
Zoila K. Romero and Denny Perez Bracho filed a complaint on March 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Dosa LLC, doing business as Caribbean Supermarket, and Jose Dos Santos, Mario Picquadio-Hernandez and Alva Mayrellis Picquadio-Hernandez citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were employed by the defendants from 2015 to 2016. The plaintiffs holds Dosa LLC, doing business as Caribbean Supermarket, and Dos Santos, Mario Picquadio-Hernandez and Alva Mayrellis Picquadio-Hernandez responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiffs any overtime premium for working more than 40 hours per workweek.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by J. Freddy Perera of Perera Law Group P.A. in Miami Lakes.
