MIAMI — A Miami-Dade County man is suing cargo and freight companies, alleging unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Steven Garcia filed a complaint March 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Caribbean Cargo Holdings, LLC, doing business as Barbados Cargo also known as a Antigua Cargo, Paradise Freight, LLC, doing business as St. Thomas Cargo, East Point Group, LLC, and Matthew Leonard, alleging failure to pay fair wages to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, Garcia worked for more than 40 hours per week as an officer and director without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay the overtime premium of time and a half to Garcia for working more than 40 hours per week as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Garcia seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, interest, appropriate overtime pay and other benefits, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Brian H. Pollock of Fairlaw Firm in Miami.
