Aetna Life Insurance alleged to have wrongfully denied preapproved medical coverage

MIAMI – A Palm Beach County individual alleges that an insurer failed to provide coverage for a preapproved surgery.

Lauri H. Forss filed a complaint on March 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Aetna Life Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he needed a surgery and was granted preapproval by the defendant for coverage. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff's claims.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award benefits to the plaintiff, interest, declare plaintiff's rights for future benefits, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Cathleen Scott of Scott Wagner & Associates PA in Jupiter.
