Motorist alleges injuries after accident on Atlantic Boulevard with federal employee

Car accident 34

JACKSONVILLE – A Jacksonville woman alleges she was injured in an accident with a federal employee.

Monica J. Cox filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against United States of America alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 10, 2015, a Department of Defense - U.S. Navy employee negligently operated a vehicle that collided with plaintiff's motor vehicle near Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville. She alleges that as a result of the incident, she has suffered damages including disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment, mental anguish, loss of earnings and property, medical expenses, and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because the defendant, through its employee, allegedly failed to safely operate a vehicle so as not to cause damage, failed to pay attention to traffic and keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, and failed to maintain proper speed and distance between vehicles to avoid collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages against defendant. She is represented by Brian C. Lamb of Martinez Manglardi PA in Orlando.
