Carnival Pride passenger alleges she was injured by slippery steps on ship

Cruise 08

MIAMI – A New Jersey woman alleges she was injured after slipping on steps on a Carnival cruise ship.

Gloria Vaught filed a complaint on Feb. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 11, 2016, she was a tour guest aboard defendant's cruise ship the Carnival Pride when she slipped and fell while descending the marble steps from deck 4 to deck 3. As a result, she alleges she suffered bodily injury resulting in pain and suffering, inconvenience, loss of capacity to enjoy life, medical expenses and loss of earnings. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make the surface of the steps sufficiently slip-resistant and negligently allowed water or some other slippery substance to be on the steps.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for more than $75,000 in damages against the defendant, plus costs of this action. She is represented by David W. Singer of David W. Singer & Associates PA in Hollywood.
