Former employee seeks allegedly unpaid overtime wages from Barry University

Law money 13

MIAMI – A former global outreach coordinator for an academic institution alleges she is owed unpaid overtime compensation.

Sandra Acevedo filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Barry University Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation during her employment from February 2014 to December 2016. The plaintiff holds Barry University Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half for working more than 40 hours per week and failed to maintain accurate time records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of all unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, all legal fees and interest. She is represented by Keith M. Stern and Hazel Solis Rojas of Law Office of Keith M. Stern, P.A. in Miami.
