Standard Insurance Co. alleged to have wrongfully denied disability benefit claim

Insurance 03

FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman alleges her claim for long-term disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Lori King filed a complaint on Feb. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Standard Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015 she became disabled and made a claim for long-term disability benefits, which was denied. The plaintiff holds Standard Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny plaintiff's claim for long-term disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits to the plaintiff, reinstatement, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Cesar Gavidia and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer Chartered in Hollywood.
