ABS-CBN Corp. alleges Kissasian.com streams pirated content

FORT LAUDERDALE – The largest media company in the Philippines alleges that a website offers streaming of pirated content.

ABS-CBN Corp.; ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. doing business as Star Cinema; and ABS-CBN International filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the individual, partnership, or business association identified as Kissasian.com alleging trademark and copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages from having their works copied and reproduced without their authority. The plaintiffs holds the individual, partnership, or business association identified as Kissasian.com responsible because the defendants allegedly uploaded plaintiffs' movies and show and allows users to watch them through its website.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's works, transfer all subject domain to the plaintiff's control, pay the plaintiff for all profits and damages, statutory damages of $2 million per counterfeit trademark used, statutory damages of $150,000 per each copyrighted work infringed, actual damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by Stephen M. Gaffigan, Virgilio Gigante and Christine Ann Daley of Stephen M. Gaffigan PA in Fort Lauderdale.
