TAMPA — A former employee has filed a class-action lawsuit against employer Janki Hospitality Inc. and Mukund D. Patel, alleging violation of wage laws.

Carmela Baltazar filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against the defendants, alleging that they failed to pay fair wages to the plaintiff for her work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Janki Hospitality Inc. and Mukund D. Patel responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the overtime premium required by law.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, punitive damages, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Peter L. Tragos of Tragos, Sartes & Tragos, PLLC in Clearwater.
