TAMPA — A former employee has filed a class-action lawsuit against employers Joli Ventures Inc., Clearwater Beach Treats LLC, John Sgro and Lisa Sgro, alleging violation of wage laws.
Sarah Anderson filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against the defendants, alleging that they failed to pay her fair wages.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between April 2015 and January 2017, she worked for more than 40 hours a week as a fast food worker without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to pay her at a rate of one and a half times her normal hourly pay for overtime.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Peter L. Tragos of Tragos, Sartes & Tragos, PLLC in Clearwater.
