ORLANDO — A man has filed a class-action lawsuit against Central Florida Regional Hospital Inc. and Transworld Systems Inc., debt collector, citing alleged invasion of privacy and violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Charles Ivy filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division against the defendants, alleging that they called the plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that starting in August 2015, he suffered damages from receiving several collection calls on his cellular telephone. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff using an automated system despite his request to stop calling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $1,500 for each willful violation, $500 for each violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees, and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Harlan S. Miller and Kenneth D'Apice of Miller Legal, P.C. in Macon, Georgia.
