PALM BEACH – A Riviera Beach consumer claims a debt collector unlawfully called her using an automatic dialing system.

Taquasha Brown filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Palm Beach Division against Money Mart Inc., also known as Check Mart of Florida Inc. and doing business as The Check Cashing Store citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendant. The plaintiff holds Money Mart Inc., also known as Check Mart of Florida Inc. and doing business as The Check Cashing Store, responsible because the defendant allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system despite her request to stop calling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Amanda J. Allen of The Consumer Protection Firm in Tampa.
