PennyMac Loan Services accused of invading consumer's privacy

Phone 02

FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman alleges her privacy was invaded by a debt collector's numerous calls.

Janice Parson filed a complaint on Feb. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against PennyMac Loan Services LLC alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls from the defendant. The plaintiff holds PennyMac Loan Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system despite her request to stop calling her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,500 for each and every call made to the plaintiff's cellular telephone, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by George N. Andrews of Loan Lawyers LLC in Fort Lauderdale.
