Law money 04

GAINESVILLE – A bartender alleges she was never paid an hourly wage while employed by a restaurant.

Serena Chappell filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida against MBJY Inc., doing business as Foghorns, and Billy E. York Jr. citing the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Florida Minimum Wage Amendment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from not being paid hourly wages for her work during her employment with the defendants from October 2016 to January. The plaintiff holds MBJY Inc., doing business as Foghorns, and York Jr. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime and minimum wages to the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all back wages due and owing, liquidated damages, $1,000 for each violation, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Peter J. Bober and Samara Robbins Bober of Bober & Bober P.A. in Hollywood.
