The Association Law Firm PLLC accused of misrepresenting debt amount

Late 04

ORLANDO – Two Osceola County residents allege they were sent a collection letter that misrepresented the amount of the alleged debt.

Tabasum Akram and Muhammed Akram Khan filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against The Association Law Firm PLLC alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in March 2016, they suffered damages from being sent a collection letter that misrepresented a false amount of their alleged debt. The plaintiffs hold The Association Law Firm PLLC responsible because the defendant allegedly charged interest rates that were illegal under state law.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual damages, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by David M. Chico of David Chico law Group in Celebration.
