Family blames Norwegian Cruise Line for shuffleboard injuries

Cruise 06

MIAMI — A family is suing Norwegian Cruise Line, alleging negligence in causing injuries and failure to uphold the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

MB, a minor, by and through his mother and father, AB and TB, filed a lawsuit Dec. 22 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against NCL (BAHAMAS) Ltd., doing business as Norwegian Cruise Line, alleging failure to provide adequate supervision to passengers playing shuffleboard.

According to the complaint, on March 17, aboard the cruise ship Norwegian Escape, MB suffered physical injuries from being struck in the head with a piece of a shuffleboard stick. The suit says MB suffered head injuries, including concussion and lacerations.

The plaintiffs allege Norwegian Cruise Line failed to properly warn MB of the hazardous condition around the shuffleboard court.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, damages of at least $75,000, all medical expenses, legal fees plus interest and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Spencer Marc Aronfeld, Lovecia A. Holmes and Matthias M. Hayashi of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers in Coral Gables.
