TAMPA — Three employees are suing a Tampa business, alleging unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Janice Meeks, Mary Powers and David Slaughter filed a class action complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, Dec. 14 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Tampa Division against Sykes Enterprises, Inc., doing business as Sykes Home Powered by Alpine Access, alleging failure to pay fair wages to the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, Meeks, Powers and Slaughter worked without being paid fair compensation. The plaintiffs allege the defendant failed to pay any overtime premium of time and a half for working more than 40 hours per week as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, interest, statutory wages, incentive awards sufficient to compensate the plaintiffs, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Gregg I. Shavitz and Paolo Meireles of Shavitz Law Group PA in Boca Raton, and by Justin M. Swartz, Melissa Lardo Stewart and Cheryl-Lyn Bentley of Outten & Golden LLP in New York.
