MIAMI — A woman is suing The Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston, an insurance firm, citing alleged breach of contract.
Wendy Miller filed a complaint on Dec. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Miami Division against The Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston, alleging that the insurance firm wrongly denied her claim for disability benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled after undergoing five back surgeries or procedures, and was awarded disability benefits in 2015 that were terminated in early 2016. The plaintiff holds The Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to terminate her disability benefits despite her disability under the terms of the policy.
The plaintiff seeks unpaid long-term disability benefits plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Carter E. Meader and Edward Philip Dabdoub of Wagar Dabdoub, P.A. in Coral Gables.
