Website alleged to offer counterfeit Chanel items

MIAMI – An online retailer is accused of selling counterfeit Chanel products.

Chanel Inc. filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the individual, partnership, or unincorporated association doing business as AAAOffer.ru alleging trademark infringement and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business and reputation. The plaintiff holds the individual, partnership, or unincorporated association doing business as AAAOffer.ru responsible because the defendant allegedly promotes, sells or distributes products with counterfeit versions of the Chanel marks.

The plaintiff seeks enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's trademark, disabled the URL being used by the defendant, pay the plaintiff all profits and damages, statutory damages in the amount of $2 million per each counterfeit trademark, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Stephen M. Gaffigan, Virgilio Gigante, and T. Raquel Rodriguez-Albizu of Stephen M. Gaffigan PA in Fort Lauderdale.
