WEST PALM BEACH — A woman is suing Unum Life Insurance Company of America, citing alleged breach of contract.
Vera Viamontes filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Unum Life Insurance Company of America, alleging that the insurance firm improperly denied her claim for disability benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Company of America responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny her disability benefits despite her disability under the terms of the plan.
The plaintiff seeks reinstatement of benefits plus any ancillary benefits, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by William S. Coffman, Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
