Woman blames Carnival Cruise Lines for slip-and-fall injury

Cruise 02

MIAMI — A New York woman is suing Carnival Corporation, d/b/a/ Carnival Cruise Lines, for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries she sustained during a recent cruise.

Felicia Ward filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the defendant. She alleges that on Aug. 20, while aboard the Valor, she sustained a fractured ankle from slipping down a wet stairway located near a Jacuzzi.

She alleges that Carnival Corporation failed to place slip-resistant materials on portions of the stairs, to have employees remove the water beforehand, or to warn passengers of possible slippery conditions.

Ward is suing for damages in excess of $75,000. She is represented by Thomas Scolaro and Mason Kerns of Leesfield Scolaro, P.A. in Miami.
