Pensacola woman accuses former employer of unpaid wages

Law money 12

PENSACOLA — A woman is suing Sui Generis Endeavors LLC and Jamario Ridley, former employer, citing alleged unpaid wages, violation of applicable minimum wage law and violation of workers compensation acts.

Michealle Miller filed a complaint on Nov. 15, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida against the defendants alleging that they failed to pay employees for all hours worked at a correct rate.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was an employee of the defendants from Aug. 2013 through Aug. 23, and performed the essential duties as painter and/or sales representative during her entire employment period. She claims she has not received the entirety of her wages, including overtime wages, commission of 7 percent under her contract and her final paycheck.

The plaintiff holds Sui Generis Endeavors LLC and Jamario Ridley responsible because the defendants allegedly failed and refused to properly compensate plaintiff at the proper overtime rate for each hour worked in excess of 40 in a week, and failed to maintain and preserve accurate time records for the hours the plaintiff worked.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, declaration of violations of the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act or FLSA, awarding of actual, compensatory and liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs of suit and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Jeremiah J. Talbott, Tyler L. Gray and Bradley S. Larsen of the Law Office of Jeremiah J. Talbott PA in Pensacola.
