Woman alleges fall on Carnival ship caused injuries

Cruise 04

FORT LAUDERDALE – A woman alleges she was confined to her cabin and didn't get to enjoy a cruise because of a fall on the ship.

Evelyn Meadors filed a complaint on Nov. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Line, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 28, she slipped and fell due to a foreign substance on the hard, slippery floor. She claims she received emergency medical treatment and was forced to remain in her cabin because of the pain.

The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide safe conditions throughout the vessel for the use of its guests and failed to observe, obey and enforce applicable safety regulations aboard the vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor, award compensatory damages, court costs and grant further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Karl E. Sturge of Marlow Adler Abrams Newman & Lewis in Coral Gables.
