American Strategic Insurance accused of breaching contract

Insurance 02

NEW PORT RICHEY — A married couple's lawsuit against American Strategic Insurance Corp. alleges breach of contract by the insurer.

Joseph Raponi and Lisa M. Raponi filed a complaint on Oct. 31 in Pasco County Circuit Court against American Strategic Insurance Corp., alleging that the insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 8, 2015, their residence suffered flood damage that was covered by their insurance policy, but that the defendant denied coverage for the damages. The plaintiffs hold American Strategic Insurance Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to provide coverage or any payment to plaintiffs for their losses despite their policy.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for damages, payment under the policy, interest, costs, attorney’s fees, and other relief that may be appropriate. They are represented by Robert D. Delgado of Florida Professional Law Group PLLC in Hollywood.
