Carnival cruise passenger alleges ladder in cabin caused injuries

Cruise 05

MIAMI – A Texas woman alleges she was injured on a cruise ship because of a bunk bed ladder.

Jettie Newsome filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2015, she sustained physical injuries on the defendant's ship Magic when the ladder for the bunk bed in her cabin caused her to fall. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff regarding the hazardous condition of the ladder and failed to maintain the ladder.

The plaintiff seeks damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Jennifer C. Thompson of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
