Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston accused of improperly denying benefits

Insurance 04

PENSACOLA, Florida — A woman is suing Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston, alleging breach of contract by the insurer.

Janelle Goodwin filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida against Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston, alleging that the insurance firm wrongly denied her claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, she became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits until they were terminated. The plaintiff holds Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff's disability benefits despite her continuing disability according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks all plan benefits, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Nick A. Ortiz of Ortiz Law Firm in Pensacola.
