Phoenix Financial Services accused of breaking collection law

MIAMI — A consumer is suing Phoenix Financial Services LLC, citing alleged improprieties in debt collection.

Aviyawna Michael filed a complaint on Nov. 9, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Phoenix Financial Services LLC, alleging that the debt collector sent an improper collection letter to him.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from receiving a collection letter with false and misleading information. The plaintiff holds Phoenix Financial Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly used deceptive means to try to collect an alleged debt from the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory and actual damages, an injunction, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Jibrael S. Hindi of The Law Offices of Jibrael S. Hindi in Fort Lauderdale.
