FLORIDA — A consumer is suing Northstar Location Services LLC, a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Jennifer Figueroa filed a complaint on Oct. 23, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Northstar Location Services LLC alleging that the debt collector sent several collection letters to the plaintiff informing her to pay the time barred consumer debts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2016, she suffered damages from receiving collection letters without proper information regarding the consumer debt she owed. The plaintiff holds Northstar Location Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inform the plaintiff that any payment made on the time barred debt would revive the statute of limitations of the debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory and actual damages, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Jibrael S. Hindi of The Law Offices of Jibrael S. Hindi in Fort Lauderdale and Thomas J. Patti of Thomas-John Law, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale.
